Some distro LPs from Berlin's premier punk label STATIC AGE MUSIK.

JACK & THE RIPPERS - NO DESIRE 7" - reissue of this highly desired bouncing KBD-aligned powerpop rarity from 1970s Geneva. Balances mod catchy and punk snotty, sort of like if The Small Faces had been protopunk. Listen here.

HEAVY METAL - LP2 - incredibly unique anonymous weirdness now on Harbinger Sound. Is it an extremely dedicated joke or just straight up too freaky for most? Strides into the territories of Crass, Desperate Bicycles, The Chameleons, Solid Space and Rod Stewart with ease. Get down with the sickness.

NEON - NEON 7" - not the current noise-not-music Oakland car crash punks but just as vital. NEON is two songs taken from the only band recordings of this group of Swedish women including a soon-to-be Liliput member Astrid Spring. Found almost 40 years after the fact. Shuffling early Rough Trade-style perfection. So essential.

PADKAROSDA - TETOVA LELKEK LP
 - driving Budapest goth punk with an aggressive vocal style more in line with Tozibabe than Siouxie. Maybe you already got the spiky-haired goth in your life that Lebenden Toten backpatch and you need something new this year?

PUFF/AUSMUTEANTS - SPLIT 7" - Berlin's Puff play wonky robotic synthpunk to go with your Screamers shirt while the Ausmuteants side sticks to their formula of New Bomb Turks through a cyberpunk filter. A lazy review would just say "this sounds like Devo" but both bands offer their own take on asking "Are We Not Men?"

SICK HORSE - GOOD BODY FEELING LP - Berlin pogo for those who like their melodies with a little grime. Incredibly high NRG garage rock that feels like it's been awake a little too long but really hitting a manic stride. Marked Men is an obvious signifier but Sick Horse really ramp up the speed (figuratively? literally?).
